Topic: Aviation Affordability Study
Abstract:

This study examines various affordability alternatives considered by the Navy to properly size the aviation inventory through 2020.  It addresses future procurement quantities by type, model, and series aircraft to determine optimal mix by year while considering such things as minimum sustaining rates, operational war-fighting impacts, estimated service life, and total costs.  It depicts side-by-side comparisons of four alternatives illustrating total costs and number of aircraft.
